When I was 5, my Mom entered my picture into the Edmonton Journal Comics Halloween drawing contest and I won! I won $25 & my drawing was posted as the winner in the newspaper the following week. I never forgot how winning that contest made me feel. I’m grateful for a Mom who believed in me & saw my potential at a young age. She didn’t know what I would do when I grew up, but she did know that if she encouraged me, I would be great. She taught me to be myself & that my heart beat was unique in this world & that I am special, and I believed her.
