Description
This poem was written by a friend of mine on Instagram. She wrote me this beautiful message, “Hi! I know we've never met, but I just wanted to say I am quite in love with your paintings! I've spent so much time staring at them & I’m in awe. It always makes me smile when I see you've liked one of my posts, because I just love what you do! I also wanted to mention.. When I was writing that last poem about colour, your paintings came to mind, because I love how you contrast dark & bright colours.. Just thought I would tell you! I love when art helps inspires word art.” ...This is the poem she wrote that inspired me to paint this piece.
What if days didn’t have to be achey or pretty
Good or bad Right or wrong
Why am I so determined to tick a box to organize and compartmentalize
And control my way through a life that is nowhere close to black and white?
It is not even shades of grey. It is heartbreak blue and deep, bruised purple
It is audacious orange and Sunday morning yellow.
And a single canvas of a day collects them all, splattered side by side.
And I realize a real life cannot be categorized.
A real life is a colourful life.
